To start, lets say Day 1 I arrive at Abu Dhabi, late, and ran to my gate for Dhaka. I had this feeling that my baggage wouldn't run as much as me... and I was right. When my plane landed in Dhaka, there was no luggage. I should have taken a picture of lost luggage... it's a mountain of luggage, piles and piles. I knew I didn't want them to take their time and find it... they said I would come back after they called and picked it up.
Years ago, my luggage also missed the flight on my first study abroad to Spain. They delivered it straight to my hotel no problem. I probs could of made them deliver my baggage by being a jerk and crying, but I didn't want to offend their customs.
I got in a car, and arrived in the hotel. Sad that my nyquil was in my luggage, so I stayed up all night, watched a lot of One Tree Hill, and ate breakfast, took a quick nap, and went to visit IDE's offices. So to begin, what is iDE? International Development Enterprises, and they have offices everywhere. They reached out to Teri, the creator of pAge drinking paper, and wanted to partner with her. They organized the field research trip I'm going on tomorrow. I took a tour of their place, which is amazing what they have done so far (pics in the gallery below).
I learned so much about Bangladesh all in the first two days...went clothes shopping, gonna buy myself some sari's and cool pants, and I GOT MY LUGGAGE back.
Long story short: went to baggage claim which is tots not allowed cause you have to declare items on the way out, and sat at the same flight i was on the previous day's baggage claim, and waited. All the security guards remembered me and we had nice chats until my baggage got here and then i was like byeeeeee. didn't declare my baggage? they were like you american? go through.
